AUTHORITY: Sheriff Noah Robinson

A murder warrant has been issued in the investigation into a shooting that occurred on February 27, 2023 at a vacant home on Cypress Dale Road. On that date, deputies responded to a call of a man down in the yard of 5100 Cypress Dale Road. After arriving on scene, deputies located a man who had been shot in the face outside the house. He was treated at the scene and transported to a local hospital. A second man, the first victim’s brother, was found deceased inside the house.

Two suspects, Austin Ousley, age 18, and a 17 year-old juvenile were identified. The juvenile turned himself into Sheriff’s deputies. Ousley was located that night in his vehicle after shooting himself in the head. Ousley was transported to a local hospital and later flown to an Indianapolis hospital where he remains in stable condition. The juvenile gave a statement, which combined with recorded admissions by Ousley, led detectives to charge the juvenile with offenses related to entering the residence. The juvenile remains in custody.

On today’s date, a warrant was issued by the Vanderburgh County Superior Court charging Ousley with one count of Murder, one count of Attempted Murder, and one count of Residential Entry. The warrant will remain unserved until such time as Ousley becomes ambulatory.
